With its incorporation in December 1996, Camphill Communities California committed to raising the necessary funds to establish a viable Camphill Community in California. To this end, the board launched a major capital campaign to facilitate the long-term growth of the community.
We are proud to report that to date we have raised over $4.5 million and completed the first three phases of our Master Plan -- the acquisition of three properties with homes, which were subsequently renovated for community use. We have also completed additional construction on two of our properties: an office wing, a barn for land work activities, and a fourth small dwelling unit.
As we head into the final phase of the campaign, which envisions another property with dwelling unit and construction of a "great room" for community meetings and celebrations, we are confident that our outstanding success will continue to inspire the essential support, generosity, good will and providence on which every Camphill venture depends.

Celebration at the Rim In October 2001 at Herbst Theatre in San Francisco the internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano, Frederica von Stade, sang in a benefit concert to celebrate and support the arrival of Camphill on the West Coast. Camphill Communities California raised over $400,000 through this event. We repeated this event in September 2005 with von Stade as host and such luminaries as flutist Paula Robison, tenor Thomas Moser and the Peabody Trio, raising $200,000 for Camphill California.
